Carbon Nanotubes- Biomedical and Biotechnology Applications

The changes in the resistance of carbon with pressure and the glowing of filament due to the passage of electricity impressed the scientist so much that they found carbon nanotubes and other usages of carbon. Nanomaterials were available in nature long before mankind got to know about it.

Development in the field of synthetic Chemistry leads to the creation of biological nanotechnology. Nanomaterial has its own importance in the field of biomedical and biotechnology. The application includes enzyme encapsulation, bone growth, biosensors and much more.

carbon nanotubes are the most trusted material due to its thermal, electrical, chemical and mechanical properties.

There are two types of Carbon nanotubes: Multi-Walled Nano Tubes and Single-Walled Nanotubes. The Multi-Walled Nano Tubes are made up of several cylinders whereas the Single-Walled Nanotubes are made up of Single graphene sheet cylinder.

The covalent and non-covalent strategies have been explored between nanotubes and biological molecules. The single-walled Nanotube bundling is being separated using DNA by electronic structure, according to the suggestion of molecular modeling DNA wraps every single nanotube in order to separate them.

Modified Carbon nanotubes are used in biosensing equipment’s the size of the nanotube are so compact and due to the arrangement of carbon atoms on the surface makes the sensitivity of a biosensor is much higher. It is recommended by researchers to use single-walled nanotubes for biosensors because of its good conductance behavior.
